How it works
Laptops are more difficult to repair and the time required varies from model to model. The most common problem is a broken screen as so many are dropped.
We will pick up your laptop, or repair it if it can be done within within a half hour. If we take it away we need the power supply as well. In some cases we may need the disks that you got when you bought it. You tell us exactly what you think the problem is. The more information you can give, the more like we can track it down and fix it.
We can deal with some hardware problems such as broken screens, cracked cases, and internal component failure.
What we do
We examine the laptop and give you our evaluation of the problem and price for the repair. If we cannot fix the problem then we will tell you. You decide whether you wish us to proceed.
If we can fix the problem, but you decide not to ask us to do so for some reason, you will pay nothing more than the call out fee. You might decide that the cost of fixing the problem is not economical, or it may be that the repair could be carried out under warrantee.
Once you have agreed to the repair we will carry it out as quickly as possible. If we have to take it back to our workshop the repair will usually take a few days, especially if we need to get parts. If you need an express service then this may be available for a small extra charge.
When the job is finished we will return your computer.
What we do not do
We cannot reinstall software to which you are not legally entitled. If software installation is required we will ask you to sign a statement to say that you will only ask us to install software to which you are entitled.
We may be able to repair laptops with non-standard operating systems such as Linux, Ubuntu, Unix or Macthese at an hourly rate. Please enquire. We can repair laptops running under some obsolete operating systems like Windows 98, Windows 95, Windows ME and so on. Please enquire.
We do not backup data unless you instruct us to do so. We will ask you to sign to say that you have backed up the data yourself. Data backup is available from us as an optional extra, but you should be aware that this may take a long time.
We cannot fix some ADSL (broadband) problems without a site visit as we need access to your telephone line.
We cannot fix your laptop if it is password protected. If you have lost or forgotten your password we may be able to still fix your computer, but we would charge extra for the time needed for this work.
